In 1977–87, RC Cola released two sets of special issue all-star baseball cans in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Association. The cans were straight steel with pull-top lids. Cans opened from the bottom are worth twice as much.1977 RC Cola set had no insignia on their caps and black-and-white player head shots in white circles. This set shows that RC did not pay the clubs for the right to use their trademarks. Underneath the image, a rectangle with player information was printed in black, and the player's name was printed in red. The cans have no numbers.
1978 RC Cola Can, which is labeled Collector's Series Two, are black-and-white player head photographs surrounded by a red border. Underneath that is printed the player's biographical data in a white circle with red stitching to resemble a baseball. An facsimile autograph is located at the top of the ball. Within the ball is a paragraph-style breakdown of the player's career highlights. The can number, which is written as "No. x of 100," is located at the bottom of the ball.
