Card Dimensions

Basic Features

The fronts feature color player photos with a thin white border and a thicker white and black border on the left side. The backs carry player information, statistics, and a short blurb about the player's career.

Pinnacle purchased rival Donruss in 1996. In September 1998, Pinnacle Brands filed for bankruptcy due to low profits; its trademarks and brand names were then purchased by Playoff, who changed its name to "Donruss Playoff." The new business kept using the Score name on entry-level sets but abandoned the Pinnacle brand.

It had the same appearance as the basic set, but the left bottom corner on the front was gray rather than black. The subset Spring Training (253-267) is included in the set. cards 1-50 were short prints.

Randomly inserted in packs at a rate of one in seven, this 160-card set is a parallel to the Score Rookie Traded base set.

1998 Score Showcase Series Artist's Proofs

Randomly inserted in packs at the rate of one in 35, this 160-card set is a partial parallel to the base set and features color player photos printed on full prismatic foil with the "Artist Proof" stamp on the fronts.

1998 Score All Score Team

These 20-card packs, which are randomly inserted at a rate of one in 35, have colorful player portraits on a background of metallic foil. A little player head shot and a statement explaining the player's selection for this set's appearance are printed on the backs of the cards.
