2016 Topps Dynasty Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

82 cards in the 2016 Topps Dynasty collection included nine Cubs players and a couple 1/1s, which I don't collect.

Size of Cards

The size of the cards are standard-size 2 ½ x 3 ½

Basic Features

This set is hard to get because of the short run and expensive box to buy, so if you're lucky enough to have some of these, a big high five." Nothing like having great autographs of the world championship team.

1935 Schutter-Johnson (R332) Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

50 cards in the 1935 Schutter-Johnson collection included 4 Cubs players.

Size of Cards

The size of the cards measure 2-1/4” x 2-7/8

Basic Features

This set was created by the Schutter-Johnson Candy Corporation as a promotional item featuring a Major League Secret. These hand-drawn cards from Al Demaree, who used to be a Cubs pitcher turned cartoonist, were set against a red field with fantastic drawings and a great subject to learn about the game, but they are very difficult to collect. The real fun is on the reverse of the card, as one of the Cubs' super-greats gives Major League Secrets on how to correctly play the ball, which a lot of Major Leaguers today should read up on. R332 might be one of the better early unknown gems in the baseball collecting community.

To prevent purchasing a false piece of history, always get a professionally graded card from a recognized provider. In the future, graded cards will be significantly more valuable.

1977-78 RC Cola Cans Cubs Checklist

Who would ever collect these weird, mostly unknown cubs memorabilia? Well, I do, and if you do, then you're a hard-core Cubs collector.

Number of Cards

1977 RC Cola Cans had 70 Cans and 2 Cubs players
1978 RC Cola Cans had 100 Cans and 5 Cubs players

Size of Cans

The Beverage Can (12 oz) has an overall height of 4.8” and diameter of 2.6”.

Basic Features

In 1977–87, RC Cola released two sets of special issue all-star baseball cans in conjunction with the Major League Baseball Players Association. The cans were straight steel with pull-top lids. Cans opened from the bottom are worth twice as much.

1977 RC Cola set had no insignia on their caps and black-and-white player head shots in white circles. This set shows that RC did not pay the clubs for the right to use their trademarks. Underneath the image, a rectangle with player information was printed in black, and the player's name was printed in red. The cans have no numbers.

1978 RC Cola Can, which is labeled Collector's Series Two, are black-and-white player head photographs surrounded by a red border. Underneath that is printed the player's biographical data in a white circle with red stitching to resemble a baseball. An facsimile autograph is located at the top of the ball. Within the ball is a paragraph-style breakdown of the player's career highlights. The can number, which is written as "No. x of 100," is located at the bottom of the ball.
