Basic Features

These cards are thought to have been put into candy boxes by Leader Novelty. The R316 and W553 sets are smaller replicas of each other. Red, purple, green, and brown ink are used to print the cards, making them a difficult set to find. The backs are unnumbered and unprinted.

1929 NL Champions

Chicago Cubs finished first in the National League with a record of 98–54, 10.5 games ahead of the second place Pittsburgh Pirates. 

Rogers Hornsby, who was acquired in the off-season, had a career year, hitting .380 also hit 39 home runs with 149 RBI and led the league with a .679 slugging percentage. Hornsby collected his second MVP award and set a few records as well.
