2015 Allen & Ginter Chicago Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

There are 13 Cubs players which includes two SP among the 350 cards in the 2015 Topps Allen & Ginter.

Size of Cards

Cards are standard-size 2 ½ x 3 ½

Basic Features

Topps Allen and Ginter, which debuted in 2006, quickly became one of the company's most popular offerings. Current and retired baseball players, historical luminaries, current celebrities, and the occasional monument were all depicted on the cards. Each set included 300 base cards, 50 short prints, an autograph, and a set of game-used inserts.
Rip Cards

Rip Cards were a one-of-a-kind creation for Topps Allen and Ginter. Each card can be split open to reveal a second card, a rare red ink autograph, a shortprinted small unique, a wood counterpart, or an original on the inside. Around one rip card was put each case. In 2014, Double Rip Cards were introduced.

For several years, Topps has been framing mini cards with autographs or gamed minis inside in their retro-tobacco themed sets. This concept was carried over into Topps Allen and Ginter, which included both an autograph and a game-used collection. Also inserted into packs were original A and G that were framed similar to the relic and autographed cards. Allen and Ginter are also known for their box topper insert sets of slightly oversized cards, as well as low serial number autographs and game-used cards.

In 2015, Topps marked the tenth anniversary of the popular Allen & Ginter series. Cards 301-350 were published as short prints and are part of the base set.

Ernie Bank Strange and Unusual autographs

Who would ever collect these weird, mostly unknown cubs memorabilia? Well, I do, and if you do, then you're a hard-core Cubs collector.

The all-time favorite Cubs player must be Ernie Bank. When autograph and relic cards were originally released, there were a number of strange sets available, and Banks was a part of most of them.

His first Auto card was 1992 Front Row you can read about it here

Despite having a 1969 set named Nabisco Team Flakes that included the late great hall of famer Ron Santo, Nabisco entered the baseball card business in 1992. An autographed color action shot of Ernie Banks was featured. If you mail in two proofs of purchase from specially marked Nabisco packets and $5, you'll get this card if it survived the mail.

This oddball was issued by Canadian Club Whiskey in 1996

a few years later 1999 Hillshire Farms Home Run Heroes. Banks' standard-size card, which are available through a Hillshire Meats wrapper redemption offer, feature his autographs and a certificate of authenticity.

All the strange and unusual autograph cards are fairly easy to collect and somewhat cheap. Remember to always get a professional grader from a reputable company so you don't get a fake piece of history. The value of graded cards is much better down the road.
