1876 White Stockings National League’s first pennant

  • OF     Bob Addy
  • P       Albert Spalding

Hard to believe Spalding pitched 61 of the 66 games played. This 1876 poster of the White Stockings players names and faces are quite rare. Unfortunately, there are no cards from this time period.

Not much is known about the park they played in but 23rd Street Grounds were built after the great Chicago fire.  No known photographs or sketches of the park in detail even exist. All that is known is that it was a wooden park with a traditional diamond on the playing field. The top poster of the team has a drawing of a ball field and could be the first base side or the 23rd Street Grounds.

1906 Fan Craze Cubs first Championship

The current Cubs name started in 1903 and a few years later the mighty northsiders won their first pennant. With a record of 116–36, a full 20 games ahead of the second-place New York Giants. The team's .763 winning percentage, with two ties in their 154-game season, is the highest in modern MLB history. The 1906 Series was the first to be played between two teams from the same city. The teams split the first four games than the The Sox won the last 2 and won the series.

You can read in detail about it here just click

The 1906 NL Baseball card set created and distributed by Cincinnati’s Fan Craze Co. Featuring 53 of the top players of the National League. The set looked like a deck of playing cards measuring 2-1/2” by 3-1/2” with rounded edges. Each card features the player’s portrait and includes the player’s name beneath as well as his team. The small, boxed game came with a game board and instructions. Game cards include baseball plays, such as “Strike”, printed above the pictures.

The Board game above used small pins. Designated WG-3 in the American Card Catalog. American League players make up the blue-backed cards whereas the red-backed cards feature National Leaguers
