1998 Bowman Chicago Cubs Checklist

Number of Cards

1998 Bowman has 441 cards which there are 12 Cubs players

Size of Cards

The size of the cards are standard-size 2 ½ x 3 ½

Basic Features

A great picture was inside a silver boarder on the fronts, with the player's name and position on the bottom. The player's facsimile signature was on the left side, drawn from their Topps contract. Players making their Bowman debut are now designated with a gold Bowman Rookie Card stamp above their name for the first time. On the back, there's a bio and stats against the squad they played the year before.

Parallels

Bowman International - On this foil-fronted parallel the background image was replaced with a map of the area of where player was born. If the player came from a non-English speaking territory the bio would be translated into that language instead.

Golden Anniversary - Produced in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Bowman's debut set, each card sports a gold-stamped facsimile autograph instead of the silver foil on the base. Each card is serial-numbered to 50.

Inserts

  • Scout's Choice
  • 1991 Japanese BBM
  • 1999 ROY Favorites
  • Minor League MVPs

Autographs

Each card is signed in blue ink and has the Bowman logo embossed in gold foil, regardless of foil color The parallel determinant is the hue of the "Certified Autograph Issue" foil stamp.

Blue foil - Inserted at a rate of one in 149 in the first series and one in 122 in the second series.
Silver foil - Inserted at a rate of one in 902 in the first series and one in 815 in the second series.
Gold foil - Inserted at a rate of one in 2976 in the first series and one in 2445 in the second series.
